Comparison is the thief of joy! I have heard that over and over again and there is something to statement. Just publishing this website (something so out of the blue for me). Learning tech - what, me learning tech? Not so easy, for me at least. But I started. I have a website and it is morphing, slowly, but it is morphing. When I am tempted to look at other sites I find myself thinking thoughts such as: "Wow, they have an amazing site, wish mine looked as good". "They must know what they are doing, they have buttons and options and mine doesn't even come close". Etc.
STOP IT! I say that for myself, and to anyone else who is just newly learning a new skill. Of course you will not be able to "do what others do" at least not right away! If I walked out onto the ice wearing ice skates, you can believe I would not be able to do those nice spins and fancy twirls that the famous skaters are able to perform in their sleep. (I think they skate better than I walk sometimes) ha ha ha. But really - they didn't start out that way. They learned, one step at a time, one day at a time. They didn't just sit on the bench and listen to the internal lies that say "don't try because you're not as good as they are".
Just - silence the noises that tell you not to try, or remind you that you are not good enough. Step out there. If you fall, pick yourself back up and take another step! You never know - someday someone might look at what you're doing and think "Gosh, she is so good at that, I'll never be able to compare"! That's when you can say "sure you can...one step at a time! We are all on this journey! So whatever it is that you are holding yourself back from - Just DO IT!
